Sun Yat-sen Place

Sun Yat-sen Place is the largest outdoor area at the Main Campus. Well known as “Happy Park” among HKU students, it has been a popular venue for major academic, social and cultural activities, including the Joint-university Mass Dance and the annual graduation class photo shoot.

It is named in memory of Dr Sun Yat-sen, who was among the first cohort of students admitted of The University of Hong Kong. The Place links the Sun Yat-sen Steps and the Lily Pond, where Dr Sun’s statue is installed.
